Chris Votek is a unique cellist fluent in many musical languages from around the world — from Arabic to Ambient, North Indian Classical to Jazz
A sought after touring and studio cellist, Votek has performed with Julia Holter, Father John Misty, Amanda Palmer, FUN, The Dirty Projectors, Jherek Bischoff, WildUp, and Jonathan Wilson.
Votek has trained for over 11 years from master violinists Dr. N Rajam and Jagannathan Ramamoorthy continually adapting the rare vocal style Gayaki-Ang to the cello.
Votek is an active member of many world music and cross cultural ensembles. He is the principal cellist of Nabil Azzam’s Arabic Orchestra MESTO, a member of LA’s chamber orchestra of cultural diversity Bridge to Everywhere, and a collaborator with the legendary Iranian singer Homayoun Shajarian, Mamak Khadem, and the Silk Road Ensemble.
